Extended Family Session FAQ

What’s included with an extended family session?

Your session includes:

• 30 high-resolution, professionally edited digital images

• A 7x11 layflat album featuring all selected images

Can we do outfit changes during the session?

I recommend no outfit changes during extended family sessions. Changing outfits can interrupt the flow and limit the number of great moments we’re able to capture.

How long will the session last?

Sessions typically last around 45 minutes. With over 13 years of photography experience, I’ll keep things moving smoothly while making sure we capture a great variety of images.

How do we reserve our session date?

Once we finalize a date, I’ll send a retainer invoice via email. A $100 retainer is required to officially hold your session date.

When and how do we pay the remaining balance?

The remaining balance is due at the session. I’ll send an invoice after the session, and ask that payment is completed before your Zoom image viewing appointment.

How do we choose our images?

We’ll schedule a Zoom viewing session within a week of your photoshoot. During this session, you’ll select your 30 favorite images for editing and inclusion in your album.

How do we schedule our Zoom viewing session?

We’ll touch base at the end of your session to find a date/time that works best for your group. Most Zoom sessions are held within 7 days of your shoot.

When will we receive our edited images and album?

• Digital images: Delivered via email download link within 1–2 weeks

• Layflat album: Shipped and delivered within 3 weeks

How will I receive my digital images?

You’ll receive an email with a direct download link and simple instructions for accessing your high-resolution files.

Can I order prints?

Absolutely! You can order high-quality prints directly from your online gallery.

What if the weather is bad?

If weather becomes an issue, I’ll do my best to reschedule as quickly as possible.
However, with extended family sessions, rescheduling can be tricky. If we can’t find a new date, you may choose to either apply your retainer to a future session or request a refund of the retainer.

Can we include our dog in the photos?

Yes, dogs are welcome! Please bring some treats to help keep them focused and happy during the shoot.

Tips for a Smooth & Successful Session

• Bribes work! Especially for small kids. I recommend fruit snacks — they're small, non-messy, and super effective.

• Color coordination: Choose 2–3 complementary colors across the group. Shades like blue, gray, white, and coral photograph beautifully together.

• Avoid matching outfits: Instead of everyone wearing the exact same thing, add variety with layers, textures, and color accents.

• Skip transition lenses: Unfortunately, I can't edit transition lenses in photos. If anyone wears them, please bring a pair of regular glasses for the session.
