Frequently Asked Questions – Team Sports Photography

1. When is the best time to schedule Picture Day?

Most teams choose a regular practice or game day for convenience. I’m flexible and can work around your team’s schedule, whether that’s after school, during a weekend morning, or just before a game.

2. What kind of space is needed for setup?

I need a flat, open area about the size of a small classroom or section of a gym. Indoor spaces work best, but outdoor setups are possible for sports like soccer or softball if weather allows.

3. Will I need to provide extra help?

No additional staff are needed, but having a coach or team parent assist with organizing players keeps things running smoothly.

4. How does Picture Day usually flow?

I photograph one athlete at a time for individual portraits, followed by the full team photo.
With a group of around 16 players, the entire process typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.

5. Are parents allowed in the photo area?

To keep sessions efficient and distraction-free, parents are asked to remain outside the photo area until the session is complete.

6. Are uniform changes or props allowed?

Yes. Athletes should wear their full team uniform. Props like balls, bats, or pom-poms are encouraged if they are part of the sport.

7. What backdrops do you offer?

I use seamless backdrops in black, white, or grey. Outdoor settings can also be used for a natural look. Black is the most popular choice for a clean, professional finish.

8. Who chooses the backdrop color?

The coach or team organizer selects the backdrop color before Picture Day.

9. Are names or team logos included on photos?

Yes. During ordering, parents can choose options that include the athlete’s name, team name, and year.

10. How many poses can each athlete do?

Each athlete can choose up to three poses. I’ll guide them through flattering and sport-specific options such as action, smile, and serious poses.

11. Can teammates or siblings take photos together?

Yes. Sibling or buddy photos are welcome if time allows. These are usually done right after individual portraits.

12. How do parents place photo orders?

After Picture Day, I’ll send an online ordering link to your team contact to share with families.
The gallery is typically ready within one to two weeks after editing.

13. How long do parents have to order?

Families have two weeks to place their orders before the gallery closes.

14. What are the typical photo package prices?

Packages range from $22 to $90, with both print and digital options.
Digital images are delivered immediately after purchase, and prints arrive within about two weeks after the order deadline.

15. What does it cost the team?

There is no upfront cost to the team as long as an average of $20 per player is spent by parents.
I make my income directly from parent purchases, not from the team.

Some families may choose not to order, and that is completely fine. The average is typically met because other families purchase larger packages.
If total sales do not reach the $20-per-player average, the team covers the difference.

16. What does the team need to do?

The team’s role is to help promote Picture Day by:

  • Forwarding reminder emails I provide

  • Sharing any promotional PDFs or flyers with parents

  • Encouraging participation and helping organize players on Picture Day

This teamwork helps ensure a smooth event and that the team qualifies for free digital team photos.

17. What does the team receive for hosting Picture Day?

Your team will receive high-resolution digital team photos, perfect for social media, banners, or senior night displays.
With permission, individual photos may also be used for team marketing materials after the ordering period closes.

18. Our league has separate teams with different practice days and times. Can individual teams schedule their own Picture Day?
Yes. This is very common for youth leagues. Most soccer and baseball leagues have their coaches work directly with me to set up a picture time that works best for their specific team. Picture Day is typically scheduled right before a practice. When photographing one team, I usually need about 30 minutes at the start of practice to complete individual player portraits and the team photo. This keeps the process efficient and minimizes disruption to practice time.
